Making room for a better question.

A conversation workshop: turning a vague request into a path to explore.

Practice / Intelligences

Take a question you carry with you: ‘What should I read?’, ‘Which project should I choose?’, ‘What does understanding mean?’. Before seeking an answer, write down what you hope to obtain. A list of possibilities, a comparison and a definition are different outcomes.

Add a boundary. How much time do you want to spend? What knowledge are you taking for granted? Which word in your question could mean more than one thing? Making these elements visible is already part of the work.

Bring your question to the chat and ask for three possible interpretations before an answer. Choose the one that interests you and try to formulate an objection to the reply. This is a way to use conversation as a research notebook.

Keep sources you can check and mark claims that still need verification. Fluent writing is not sufficient grounds for accepting a claim. The useful result may be a more precise question than the one you started with.
